The mental rate of perception is usually researched and developed using the Shultz tables. These tables are applied to the research and development in the area of speeds of visual search movements, such as speed reading training.
Rules of work with Shultz tables
Figures need to be found in an increasing order from 1 – 25. These figures are determined only by sight. The reading time should not exceed 25 sec.
- Fixate the sight on the center of the table before beginning. This ensures that the entire table is completely visible.
The distance between the table and the eyes remains the same throughout training, which is about 25-30 sm. The only authorized search is by following one after another, where the eye is fixated on the center of the table; horizontal eye movements are not allowed.
- It is important to remember to not to overwork the eyes, same out the length of training time and how often.
The main thing to remember when working with Shultz table is that the field of vision is expanded. This can be achieved by following the aforementioned rules of working with the Shultz tables and regular training.
